myLot Discussions| What is the most expensive wine you have tasted? | | Please share details of the country the wine is from, vintage, details of taste, amount you paid and why you think it is (or not) worth the money you paid.My personal favourite has got to be Clarendon Hills Astralis 2003 from Australia, which I paid $300 for the bottle. It is pure pleasure just to watch as I swivel the premium wine in my glass. Needless to say, the texture is brilliant as it glides down my palate and throat. Drinking the fine wine in the company of great companion helps too. Excellent!

| | wine value | | Wondering the value of ...unopened, 12 ozs.,produced by
soc.com.dosvinhos de mesa de portugal, ida. porto portugal"(this I took from the label) The bottle is green glass, about 8 inches tall and 5 inches wide. The labels are not damaged and the front label had "Mateus" at the top with a scene below and "rose" "still wine" at the bottom. The bottle is sealed in a silver wrap and the wine does not look to have evaporated.Any info. would be appreciate. Thank you
| | The Black Widow (DARK) | | The Black WidowI fly freely along
feeling the fresh cool air
Enjoying the essence of life
without the burden of a careSuddenly I'm caught
in the web of your lies
Bound and held
by your silky sweet tiesYour approach
is slow and taunting
The view of saliva
is dreadfully hauntingYou spin me around
and with great pleasure you dine
My blood is young
but still a Vintage WineAs my life drains away
I can't help but think
This all could have been prevented
but now I'm just another drinkOne more lost soul
paying restitution
Just a victim
of evolutionMy innocence
still in your mind
Moving on
more victims to find | |
| | Traveling to China? skip this "amusement park" | | Animals torn to pieces by lions in front of baying crowds: the spectator sport China DOESN'T want you to see
By DANNY PENMAN - The smiling children giggled as they patted the young goat on its head and tickled it behind the ears.
Some of the more boisterous ones tried to clamber onto the animal's back but were soon shaken off with a quick wiggle of its bottom. It could have been a happy scene from a family zoo anywhere in the world but for what happened next. A man hoisted up the goat and nonchalantly threw it over a wall into a pit full of hungry lions. The poor goat tried to run for its life, but it didn't stand a chance. The lions quickly surrounded it and started tearing at its flesh. "Oohs" and "aahs" filled the air as the children watched the goat being ripped limb from limb. Some started to clap silently with a look of wonder in their eyes. The scenes witnessed at Badaltearing Safari Park in China are rapidly becoming a normal day out for many Chinese families. Baying crowds now gather in zoos across the country to watch animals being torn to pieces by lions and tigers. Just an hour's drive from the main Olympic attractions in Beijing,...

We sat at a table in the food concourse. The lunch rush had thinned as the hands of the lobby clock crept toward 2:00 PM. A steady stream of commuters, business travelers and tourists flowed out of the MARTA station located 120 feet below us and through the food concourse located between the two Peachtree Center towers. Some trailed suitcases on wheels, like kids with their Red Rider wagons in tow, heading for the Hyatt and the Marriott Marquis.Frank offered a sympathetic shrug after imparting his unique philosophical wit. His eyes darted about, almost nervously and he worked on a piece of gum that he probably started first thing this morning and a thin swizzle straw, shifting the straw from one side of his mouth to the other, while not missing a chew on the old gum.“Quillen talk to you yet?”He nodded and shifted the plastic straw to the other side of his mouth.“I did what you said,” Frank replied resting his elbows on the table. “I told Quillen you were on your own Friday,...
| | Would you pay for a $25,000 meal? | | I definitely won't! But apparently, some people really do! This is taken from yahoo news:By JOCELYN GECKER, Associated Press Writer
Sat Feb 10, 4:57 PM ETBANGKOK, Thailand - It was an evening of utter decadence — a 10-course gourmet dinner concocted by world-renowned chefs at $25,000 a head. ADVERTISEMENTMany of those who attended Saturday night's culinary extravaganza in Bangkok hailed it as the meal of a lifetime. But it's no easy task to eat plate after plate of Beluga caviar, Perigord truffles, Kobe beef, Brittany lobster — each paired with a rare and robust vintage wine."It's really amazing," said one diner, Sophiane Foster, a wealthy Cambodian who lives in Malaysia, as she eyed the dinner's eighth course — a "pigeon en croute with cepes mushrooms." "But I can't finish it. Your senses can only appreciate so much."High-rolling food lovers flew in from the United States, Europe, the Middle East and other parts of Asia for the 40-seat dinner organized by the Lebua luxury hotel in Bangkok, grandly titled "Epicurean Masters of the World."Cooked by six three-star Michelin chefs — four from France and one each from Germany and Italy — the menu...
