myLot Discussions| What is the next thing you plan to do to enjoy your life? | | As most of you know, I want to take a vacation. It will be until at least May before I am able to even consider it because of work and school. I am ready for a little enjoyment. Maybe I'll go somewhere I've never been or try something I have never done..lol..I am feeling very stir crazy because of the weather. So what is the next thing that you will do to enjoy life? It can be as simple as a long bath if that's what you enjoy. I can't wait to hear your responses. | |
| | I'm Ready To Burn and More Besides! | | I went to my Son's today, together with my Mum, on invite for a Birthday Dinner. My Daughter-In-Law cooked a lovely Roast Pork dinner, with Toffee Pavlova, or Strawberries and Strawberry Milk Jelly for dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and then Lauren brought me a card she'd made. She had written the birthday greeting on the top, and drawn a computer monitor with icons on it, lol, and then she'd cut some dimpled silver paper for a keyboard and placed it underneath, and drawn a black mouse, with a wire leading around to the back of the monitor. "Open it" she said, so I opened it, and down dropped all these coloured streamers she'd cut and taped inside. lol. It was quite clever really.Anyway, she then presented me with a gift, which I duly unwrapped... it was my pyrography pen, in a kit with two leather objects to burn on, and three wooden. There were loads of interchangeable tips... fourteen, I think. So, soon I shall be starting to burn my designs. I'm really looking forward to that. Then Di asked me if I wanted to go to Hobbycraft to spend the £10 voucher, which I did, and Lauren joined us. I did quite well from £10... I found a half-price acrylic paint set, at half... | |
| | Orangutan paintings!!!!! | | I have some artist friends, who make beautiful drawings and paintings. But an orangutan as an artist, this is really great. Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo is using eBay to sell paintings made by a rare artist -- a 39-year-old orangutan. One painting created by the zoo's male primate, Towan, had reached $410 on the auction site with 12 bids as of 7 p.m. eastern time Monday. A second piece had reached $350 with 14 bids. "Own a true original! Woodland Park Zoo's orangutan, 39-year-old male Towan, has created a beautiful painting, rendered in his own hand," the zoo's description of the painting on eBay reads. The art works, created with acrylic paints, have been matted in black frames and come with a photograph of the orangutan artist at work. Funds raised by the auctions will go toward the 2009 conference of the Third Annual International Congress of Zookeepers/36th American Association of Zookeepers National Conference, the first joint conference featuring both organizations.
Hello this is certainly something very nice, the orangutan will help the zookeepers.

| | | What kind of paint? | | What do you use most- oils, acrylics, watercolors? Why? I prefer acrylics most of the time because they are versatile and can be used on almost anything. I don't have a lot of money or space to stock up on lots of different paints and supplies, so my acrylic paints, brushes, palettes and everything else can be used for just about anything I want to do. What do you prefer? | |
| | Create Themed Gift Baskets | | Gift baskets are a great way to make a personal gift for family or friends. This article includes many ideas of containers and themes to help you get started on a gift basket for everyone on your list. Gift baskets can be a lot of fun for you and the recipient and don't have to cost a lot of money. The RecipientThe first thing to consider is who you are giving the basket to:- What do they like?
- What are their hobbies?
- What do they need?
- What do they like to eat?ContainersThe container or "basket" doesn't have to be expensive. Pick a theme (some are listed below) and find a container that goes with the theme that can hold some items or have items attached to it. You want the container and the items to go together and for everything to be usable and practical. (This is not to say that a few fun things can't be thrown in too.) Below are some of my ideas for containers but there certainly are many more possibilities.- Baskets of all shapes and sizes
- Bowls
- Flower pots
- Watering can
- Fishing creel
- Canvas bag
- Day pack
- Waste basket
- Bucket - ice, plastic or garden
- Colander
- Plastic container
- Storage box
- Platter
